Aquatics Specialists I (Lifeguard/Swim Instructor)
Salary: $7.35 - $9.00 per hour
Duties / Responsibilities:
Under direction of the Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager, provides swimming instruction and lifeguards; insures safety of pool patrons through accident prevention, first aid, and water rescue techniques; follows Red Cross Techniques and lesson plans for purposeful, progressive swimming lessons for all age groups and multi-ability levels; and performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Successful completion of the junior year of high school and/or 17 years of age.
Experience: Prior experience working with the public is desirable and two (2) seasons of experience in a water safety program.
Certificates: Possession of a current Red Cross Lifeguard Training; First Aid for Lifeguards (EMSA); CPR for the Professional Rescuer; Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certificate.
Please note: All required certifications must be completed by date of hire. On a continuous basis: work outdoors in or around water; exposed to extreme heat; know and understand assignment and observe safety rules; stand, bend, climb, swim when instructing or assisting class participants.
