PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I/II
($2,592.-$3,589. Monthly)

THE POSITION
The Sunrise Recreation and Park District invites you to apply for the position of Park Maintenance Worker I/II.  The incumbent will serve as an irrigation technician at District facilities.

THE DISTRICT
The Sunrise Recreation and Park District provides park and recreation services to the communities of Antelope, Citrus Heights and Foothill Farms in a 27 square mile area located in northeast Sacramento County with an estimated population of 140,000. The District administers 40 parks and open space areas and a nine hole golf course totaling approximately 415 acres.

QUALIFICATIONS
Specialized training in all aspects of landscape irrigation including, but not limited to, centralized computer controllers, programming, electric valve repairs, main and lateral line installation and repairs, installation and adjustment of irrigation heads, troubleshooting and problem solving. Two years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, and construction of parks, landscape areas, and associated facilities.  Possession of a valid California Driversís license class C and ability to obtain a class A driverís license by the end of the probation period.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Will have the knowledge of:
Principles of supervision and training.  Modern methods, materials and equipment used in landscape irrigation. Methods, techniques, tools and operating practices of mechanical equipment used in construction and maintenance of irrigation systems. 

And the ability to: Perform a wide variety of park, building and facility construction, maintenance and repair work. Perform skilled landscape maintenance, including tree trimming work and sprinkler system installation and repair.  Skillfully operate a variety of motorized equipment, hand tools and power tools. Assist in planning, scheduling, and developing landscape activities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Provides lead direction assigning work to and coordination of other maintenance and seasonal staff.  Trains staff in the proper use of tools and equipment associated with all phases landscape irrigation. Performs maintenance, construction and repair assignments on District parks, buildings and recreational facilities.  Prunes trees, shrubs and hedges.  Installs, maintains and repairs water lines and sprinkler systems, including automatic control systems. Transports, loads and unloads supplies, equipment, and machinery.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a shop environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions; some exposure to pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals; works around equipment, electrical systems and machinery; continuous contact with other members of staff and general public.

SELECTION PROCESS

Prior to appointment, the candidate selected for the position will be required to pass a physical examination, at District expense.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary $2,592.-$3,589. per month, plus excellent benefits which include: membership in the Sacramento County Employees Retirement System, and health, dental and life insurance plans.  Leave time is competitive.
